YouTube Favorites: This Too Shall Pass
Oh huh, another music video. Well, I kept this one much more for the Rube Goldberg Machine than for the song. I like OK Go, but this isn't one of their best tunes IMO.

This is very Neil Gaiman / Dave McKean-ish, but I don't think it's actually related to either of them.
You can basically ignore the idiotic "may find offensive" banner at the beginning. There's nothing sexy or NSFW here. If you find yourself offended by any of this, just... just go away, okay?
It is creepy though, so I won't fault you for skipping it if you're not into that.
Okay, that was all the music videos for a while, it looks like. Here's something more cheerful!
Okay, I totally (and rightfully) got called out on that Skinny Puppy thing. My knowledge of their music is much less than comprehensive, and that youtube vid sounded pretty reasonable! In retrospect, I'm not even sure about that comparison to Coil any more. I will have to listen to some more of their stuff and not let my entire opinion of them be based off of just the one album of theirs I own. ("Too Dark Park")
Here's an actual Skinny Puppy video to make it up: "Pro-Test" from their '04 album "The Greater Wrong of the Right".
And here's "Pro-Test" mashed with "Ice Ice Baby", because hey why not?
Hey if you got here from my Video Games Hot Dog tweet, do me a favor and hit that RSS button in the right sidebar, because I want all you super people to see this, but shameless self-promotion is super embarrassing to me.
Here's another Coil video (possibly COIL? I see it both ways and I dunno if the all-caps is official or not.) It's their version (and their own video) for "Tainted Love".
Coil is a lot like Skinny Puppy, in that a lot of stuff is pure noise and kind of unlistenable if what you want is music and not just... atmospherics, but once in a while they bust out something that's pretty great. The difference between them is that Coil is slow creepy noise and Skinny Puppy is fast grindy noise.
My favorite Coil album for actually listening to is "Love's Secret Domain" -- it's one of my favorite albums actually.
Here's Skinny Puppy's version of "Tainted Love", for comparison.
You guys probably remember this one. Music by Coil (album: "The New Backwards"), video by Vesiline, movie clips from "Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me" by David Lynch.
Edit: Probably helps if I actually put the video here huh.
Performed by Sxip Shirey & Adam Matta.
